Ready when you are, Spring!
Today I received a catalogue in the mail with the caption of 'Ready when you are, Spring'. I don't know about you, but I am ready too! The AFHF committee members are starting to make preparations for the 2013 festival, to be held on Saturday May 18 (no rain date) on the Town Common.
This year, the committee is looking for new vendors. Our festival is very popular and we are grateful to all of our vendors who participate year after year. Every year we get more and more inquiries from new vendors with different products who wish to participate in the festival, and unfortunately there is extremely limited space. So this year, we have decided to accept applications from vendors, new and old, and decide as a committee, which ones best suit our 2013 festival. Vendors must have a nature or heritage theme.
This year, all applications must be accompanied by a couple of pictures of your craft. (Growers and food vendors do not need to send in pictures with their application, but they must be approved). All applications will be reviewed by the committee and vendors chosen through a group decision. Interested vendors should only send in a completed application and photos. Payment for the space will not be required until after the vendor is notified on their acceptance to the festival.
Deadline for consideration is March 1 2013. All vendors will be notified of their acceptance by March 8 2013. Any questions regarding this new process can be posted below as a comment, or sent via email to aspragusfestival@charter.net.
Please complete the form by answering each question, making it clear what your product is, and whether you require electricity (extremely limited). Your pictures may simply be printed out in color onto white paper, or in photo form.
You may find the application forms (one for craft vendors, and one for food/grower vendors) on this blog very soon. If you are unable to download it, please contact asparagusfestival@charter.net.
We look forward to receiving your applications and welcoming a group of exciting vendors to our festival!

Welcome May!
Well, it is the first day of May, and although it is wet outside, I am sitting here thinking about the wonderful day that is the Asparagus and Flower Heritage Festival, and looking forward to my 1, 2 or even 3 cups of asparagus chowder! Our Town of West Brookfield welcomes over 100 local artisans, crafters and food growers, as well as the delicious offerings of the Asparagus Alley vendors. Here is just a small sample of the line up for this year:
J.P. Glass Designs
Never Felt Better
BEADana
All Hill Farm
HollowoodsBay State Blankets
Chicken Feather Farm
Giannantonio Designs
Rainbow Kids
Flower Trail Gardens
Boneyard Biscuits
Positively Perennials
Virginia Weiner, Painted Gourds
Post and Boot
Amazing products from wonderful vendors!! And we can't forget some of the fine team behind Asparagus Alley:
Salem Cross Inn
Ye Olde Tavern
Rise N' Shine Diner
Happy Hempsters
Haymakers Grill
Yum! My mouth is watering for Asparagus Pesto Pizza, Homefries, Clam Chowder, Wraps, Grilled Asparagus Paninis, various salads featuring asparagus, good old fashioned hamburgers, hotdogs and pies.
There will also be a variety of food vendors offering take home delights such as:
June's Bakeshop
Wild Mountain Beefalo Farm
Five Loaves Bakery
I think one of our Asparagus Festival tote bags will come in handy! Look for one at the Information Booth.
See you at the festival!!!

Highlights from the 2011 West Brookfield Asparagus & Flower Heritage Festival
As we begin to prepare for the 2012 West Brookfield Asparagus and Flower Heritage Festival, we'll take some time to look back on the festival in 2011. What a day it was!
The West Brookfield Town Common was lined with vendors, crafters, local artisans, food - a selection to impress and satisfy all visitors.
As always, the Original Squeezed Lemonade stand was popular!
Asparagus Alley provided many lunch and snack options, from grilled asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, oven-fired asparagus pizza and the most amazing asparagus chowder to old favorites of hot dogs and burgers.
Plenty of entertainment was provided throughout the day and everyone was entertained. Frog jumping, a Maypole dance, hat making for the kids and Ed the Wizard!
We are looking forward to a fun filled day in 2012. See you there!
